Edo State-born popular and gifted Nollywood movie director and scriptwriter, Charles Novia, clocks 40 today (November 20); his family, friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry will gather to pay tribute in celebration of his achievements these past years. the past 15 years, churning out lots of top blockbuster movies such as The Bridesmaid, Real Love, Missing Angel, More Than Sisters, You Broke My Heart, A Christmas Passion, Atlanta and The Covenant Church. Besides making good movies, Charles Novia has also helped in discovering lots of A-list stars in the movie and music industry. They include Desmond Elliot, Grace Amah, Empress Njamah, Caroline Ekanem Danjuma, among others. He also helped in re-engineering the careers of many artistes like Stella Damasus, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal and a host of others, who he reintroduced to stardom through his movies and November Records music label, which is home to a group of talents notable among them Majek Fashek, whose last album Little Patience, was executively produced by Charles Novia and sold over a million copies.
Aside being a gifted movie director, Charles Novia is also a businessman of repute, who successfully involved the banking industry in the entertainment sector with Project Nollywood partnership with Ecobank Nigeria, and help from a few colleagues. He also introduced the use of massive billboards to promote movies, an idea that was still out of reach for most of his colleagues back then.
In achieving the magic age of 40, Novia says, “I am happy and very grateful to God for my life all these years, for what I am and what I will be by His grace. Life has just begun for me and the best is yet to be seen, according to the motivation of my Creator.”
On November 30, friends, family as well as top Nollywood players will gather in Surulere to pay tributes to one of their own, and to celebrate his achievements.
