Historical Link: Between Okpella People And Benin.

Roy this is a very nice contribution to knowledge. You gave an indepth and incisive analysis that has inpired me to create time for some linguistic work in a related area.

I love the poem Set her free and never again enslave her, but who wrote the poem? I cannot find the name of the poet. And I would like to have some more information about Oba. Is that possible? I would like to know what influence he has on the people and the state. For example, is it true that he is the father of all religions? Could you help me with that?

With regards,

Subject: Re: The killing of Professor Agho
Message: I would like to use this medium of communication to thank the VC and staff of ATBU, Bauchi, Mike’s friends and other Nigerians for the beautiful letters, cards, magnificent support and for their friendship. We got so much comfort from your kind words and thoughts and Mike would have been very humbled and proud of the nice things you guys have said about him. The Agho family has taken great strength from your support which I\\\\\\\'m sure is exactly what Mike would have wanted.

The late Professor Michael Agho was my oldest brother and the killers have created a very big vacuum that would be difficult to fill in the family and nation. Having over 10 years of research and teaching, Mike would always tell me to consider coming home and contribute to research and teaching. Now that Mike is gone, my dream of coming home is gone too.

I can’t stop crying; I have lost my best friend, my big bros and my idol in a very tragic manner.

My questions to President Yar’Adua and Governor Adams Oshiomhole are:

Who are the killers of my late brother?

What are the Nigeria police doing about my brother’s case?

Time will tell if the current regime is a joke or a messiah

I’m not an expert in some kind of ghostly theories or things like that, but as a human being, I’m of the view that these question actually hang in our minds. What we allow to occupy our minds could go a long way in manifesting what we feel or thing we have really seen. Be it what is may; I think people should be made to understand that though the human being is said to be more than just the physical flesh and bones, the physical actually controls the affairs. The whole enigma might have been created for the end result of the fear. So that the few ones who claim to have the superpower to mediate between the physical and the spiritual can treat the rest people as their slaves, whom they will continuously control their minds. I don’t want to argue whether or not spirits do exist. I will rather stress that people being more aware of their powers to make their own decisions and bearing in mind that their decisions can have consequences

Message: I am romanian nationals. Few years ago travelling to madrid i used to go to red light district. there i met a young girl from edo. To my great shame i must say that i never ever heart about this ancient civilisation. like most europeans i made the confusion berween bini and benin republic. I must say that the relation i started with the respective girl was (and still is) very important for me. even if i could not always understand her. we belong to very diferent cultural areas. the most important i could not understand why she give all her money to \\\"madam/mammy\\\". In madrid there are plenty of romanian and ucrainian prostitutes. those girls usualy \\\"belongs\\\" to a gang that take all their money too. But they are phisically agressed and their families are in danger at home. More, those girls come from declasate elements of our society (alcohoolic parents, deligvents, lumpenproletars). My bini girlfriend come from a decent family and she was not agressed phisically by her \\\"madam\\\'. stil for her was a matter of proud and principles to \\\"fullfill the contract\\\" of 60,000euro to come to europe. we had a relation for 8 month (no more on prostitution base) til the moment when madam observed that i have a bad influence on her. after that she sold her to amsterdam to another gang where my girl friend had to pay again 60,000euro. i followed her in amsterdam and told her that she have no reason to pay those money to anybody and that she can run away nobody can stop her. Even if I am not rich i can take good carre of her and even to help her family in africa. she said that she can`t do it. it is something that white man can not understand. Then i had a crissis of jelousy and left her. I supposed that she like prostitutions.

Nevertheless all this i feel it was not in vane: i become interested in africa (even traveled in nigeria in several ocassions) and to understand this part of the world.

With respect

Dan

I will like to answer to Mister Nosa article about homosexuality.

I see that he defend more not the Nigerian way of life and general view about sexuality. Everywhere in the world the majority of population use to have homofob feellings.

In most societies the homosexuals where punished, marginalised, excluded from normal life and so on... still they continue to exist and to try to have their life. Even in such cruell societies like Nazi Germany or stalinist Soviet Union they encounter the regime and tried to continue their life. Only this fact and can made us to think that there is more then a simply option or promiscuity. There is a way to be.
For a real homosexual there is something of little importance if he is abstinent and have no sexual life: he continue to be a homosexual and to perceive the world this way. It doesn`t matter if I have sex last night or 10years ago : I continue to be a heterosexual man and to behave and understand world like this.
Mr.Williams spoking openly about his sexuality and way to be in today Nigeria show very much courage and trust in his country ability to modernise. Much more then those who dennied him.

Just think : how can affect us and made us to feel endangered sexual life of two adult person? Why those people must go to prison and to be excluded from society ? (considering that all involved person to it freely and are over 18 years) Why Nigeria is tolerant with rapist and so intolerant with homosexuals? Who endanger more the society?

I am sorry to involve myself in this topics : I am not even African but I know Nigeria well and I realy love this country.

I am not homosexual and i have no friends to be openly homosexuals but i hate intolerance in respect to a minority that don`t endanger in any way any body.

With respect

Dan

Subject: 419
Message: For thoose to have nationalistic feelings about 419:

Somebody said that those scammers must deal only with non-nigerians.

Probably you may not even imagine how much destroy the country imagine this kind of scamm. And how much nigerian economy lost because of those bastards. And how much the poor nigerians loose because of them. In period 2002-2007 nigerian banks loose over 15billion euro because they become banned from european banking market as being not enough safe. I was myself a victime of this scamm and this why i become to know Nigeria (and to love this country).

Those \"419 workers\" destroyed Nigeria reputation and spoil very much of it`s chance for development.

It is a plague for the country and is nothing to be proud of them. They are not smart guys to foolish the foreigners. They are like those to cut an apple tree for one apple

Recently, we were contacted by a Prince Curtis Eweka Akenzua for a business contract. Unfortunately, the Benin kingdom has no homepage for its own, so I cannot verify if he is genuine. In the internet, I was not able to find a Prince Curtis.

Do you know whether he is a member of the family or not and a follower of the recognized Oba?
Do you have a contact adress of the Oba?

If you can send me any information, I am very gratefull!!!

Many thanks for your time and assistance!

Edo state Benin city is located in the heart of Nigeria, which is one of the oil producing state in Nigeria and other mineral resources, but today Edo state is one of the poorest state in Nigeria, during the british colonia era, it was formerly called old western region and well recognise in Nigeria, today people does not have adequate attention from the govenment, people are die of poverty.black community spain, fight for the right of people that is our major concern,we call on,all Edos home and abroad,to join hands together and fight this poverty and corruption, which was created by the Edo leadership in government, key positions.lets change the wind of poverty to wealth, yes we can.
