The 25 Villages of Auchi Kingdom

Below are the 25 villages of modern Auchi kingdom. They are listed according to the original heritage zone from which they were created.
1) Utsogun Village (from Utsogun heritage zone): This village is named after the senior son of Usi(Uchi)


2) Egelesor Village (from Utsogun heritage zone): Corrupted from “Ene yor ege sor”!
Repeated warning sound to those at hilly part of the settlement.


3) Ughidane Village (from Utsogun heritage zone): This area was an exclusive reservation for the rulership of the community, “Upper Chambers”


4) Idani-Yelwa Village (from Utsogun heritage zone): This area was an approved aboard for cronies, friends, immigrants of the Royal family.


5) Osomeke Village (from Utsogun heritage zone): This area has been a very fertile farm land, with guarantee good yields all year round. It wasn’t really a place for human settlement, until about recent times.


6) Oluedide Village (from Utsogun heritage zone): This village is named after the forest prominent for hunting parrots in the earliest time.


7) Oki Village (from Utsogun heritage zone): This village is named after the famous Oki spring. It was exceptionally reserved for domestic utilities of the Otaru and it’s environs for the cocoa plantation of the monarch.

8)Oshiomhole Village (from Utsogun heritage zone) – This village was obviously named after the immediate past governor of Edo State. It was carved out of Oki/Osomeke.

9) Akpekpe Village (from Akpekpe heritage zone) -This village was named after the 2nd Child of Uchi, It’s the 2nd of inner ifiri (moat) communities. It is made up of the warriors, hunters, blacksmith and crafts men of the kingdom. High Chief Olimeoke, the first Doudu of Auchi during the reign of Ikelebe 1 was from Iyofa Kindrend of Akpekpe.

10)Osuali Village (from Akpekpe heritage zone): Osuali is named after the spring, Eda-Osuali located in a cave along the current Akpekpe Secondary School and old foot pat to Ivbiaro, in Owan East LGA,. It was a unique area populated with native dwarfs (Aziza). Only strong hearted men visited this location then.


11) Idanirace Village (from Akpekpe heritage zone): This was a reserved area for various sporting activities by the Colonial Masters. Simply called Race Course locally named Idani – Race.


12) Omemi Village (from Akpekpe heritage zone): Named after Omemi River, an unusually cold spring water gushing from a rocky terrains.


13) Isaami Village (from Akpekpe heritage zone): Named after Isaami shrine located at the boundary between Auchi and Ikpeshi-Egbigere in Akoko-Edo LGA

14) Ikelebe Village (from Akpekpe heritage zone): This village was obviously named after IKELEBE 1, The first Otaru of Auchi Kingdom, son of ANEKHE, The Queen Mother 1.


15) Aibotse Village (from Aibotse heritage zone): This village is named after the 3rd son of Usi (Uchi). It was a settlement populated by mainly immigrants traders, Nupes, Hausawas, etc. It is the 3rd community of the inner Ifiri (moat) of Auchi Kingdom.


16) Oguokhai Village (from Aibotse heritage zone): This was a forest reserved for games hunting and collection of choice afforestation. Ogua~nitso~khai.


17) Aliogbomhi Village (from Aibotse heritage zone): This was a specially selected settlement for the white man. On arrival from Aviawnhu, the British colonial masters found all needed domestic and environmental factors conducive for their comfort here in Auchi.


18) Igbei Village (from Igbei heritage zone): This village was named after the fourth son of Uchi who finally got saddled with the care of his immediate Junior brother, Ekhei, hence both villages were more or else cloistered as one. Indeed some remnant families of Ekhei lineage still live in Igbei till date.


19) Ozomode Village (from Igbei heritage zone): Named after the arena of a legendary cherry tree, which was well endowed with flourishing fruits and branches all year round.


20) Akharumha Village (from Igbei heritage zone): Named after the farmland / forest that was in the neighborhood of Oguokhai. So to say, Akharumha was a direct opposite of Oguokhai in terms of assessment and utilisation.


21) Iyekhei Village (from Ivie-Ekhei heritage zone): The last son of Uchi, was very tendered at the demise of Uchi, from tutelage to adulthood, he had cohabited with Igbei.
From the previous description of Igbei and the fore going one easily understand why Igbei/Ekhei are co-joined like Siamese twins as one village the appointment of a substantive Otaru.


22) Aimhanesi Village (from Ivie-Ekhei heritage zone)- Named after one of the grand child of Ekhei.


23) Utsokhwili Village (from Ivie-Ekhei heritage zone)- This was the original settlement of Ekhei offsprings on their first emigration from Igbei. A fertile hilly terrains.


24) Oikilokhai Village (from Ivie-Ekhei heritage zone) – Named after a hermit farmer from Afe-Achilekpe who had earlier settled at a virgin valley enclave in the present day Auchi Poly environs.


25) Igiebor Village (from Ivie-Ekhei heritage zone): Named after the first Doudu of the Old Iyekhei village, a Grand child of Ekhei
