He graduated medicine in Benin, worked at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), then St John Hospital Ilawe Ekiti for National Service. Thereafter he worked for Bendel State Health Services Management Board and recall doing the first Caesarean Section with a torch light at Urhonigbe General Hospital in 1983 as a visiting Medical Officer of Health. He entered the National Postgraduate training from the Central Hospital Benin City where he is the first ever to complete the Fellowship examination from that hospital with rotational training at the UBTH as well. During the postgraduate training he was elected President of Bendel State Resident Doctors’ Association 1986-1989.
Thereafter he worked as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to Delta Steel Hospital Complex Oviawn Aladja on secondment from the Central Hospital Benin City. On his return to the Central Hospital, he proceeded to England for further clinical exposure. . Today Dr SEO Ogbonmwan is a Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and Consultant to the National Health Services of the United Kingdom with special interest in assisted reproduction technology, intra partum care  and screening for gynaecological cancer.
